About Us

Disability Achievement Center is a nonprofit resource Center for Independent Living that services people of all ages with a disability in Pinellas and Pasco Counties. Our goal is to help people with disabilities to live as safely and independently as possible. We are funded by HHS to provide 5 Core Services: Information & Referral, Independent Living Skills, Peer Mentoring, Individual/Systemic Advocacy, and Transition. We are further tasked to respond to the needs of the local community. As such, we have the largest cache of durable medical equipment that we refurbish and sanitize before giving to those who cannot afford such purchases. We use grant funding to make repairs to existing equipment, and install grab bars, and ramps. We are part of Diapers for Dignity incontinence supply bank, offer a Prosthetic Upcycling Program, a Food Program (not bank), and partner with other agencies/municipalities to offer Caregiver Support Group and Adaptive Family Nights. Disability Achievement Center was the advocate for the installation of beach access mats that provide equal access to our world class beaches! We are active in Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery, preparing in blue skies and gray and serve on Transportation Disadvantaged Committees, and the Pinellas County Council for Persons with Disabilities.
